BIO

Klaus' playing career began when he moved from Germany to Canada. Before he could speak english, he picked up the trumpet in a local marching band in his second "hometown" of Kingston Ontario. He quickly became interested in the instrument and studied it during his highschool career. When he gradutate from Frontenac Secondary School, he started playing on the Kingston scene with Union and non-Union bands including the Bob Ayer Big Swing Band, The Sounds of Jazz, Dave Smith's Limestone Sextet, the C&E Military band. He attended St.Lawrence College for Civil Engineering Technology. After completing his second year, it was obviouse the the urge to study music was greater then his willingness to start a career in Civil Engineering. In 2004 he decided to move to Toronto Ontario to further his musical abilities.

In 2004 he started attending Humber College's Jazz Program. In combination with Thompson River's University, he started his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance. During his four years at Humber, he began his professional development as a trumpet player and found himself playing in several different bands including Alastair Kay's Brass Choir, Andy Ballintyne's Jazz Ensemble, Nancy Walker's Jazz Ensemble, John McLeod's Jazz Orchestra, Rick Lazar's Latin Workshop, Luis Mario Ochoa's Latin Big Band, and Dave Stillwell's Blue Jacket's. He recently completed his Music Diploma and is currently working towards his Bachelor of Music.

Klaus has had the pleasure performing with artists such as Dan Akroyd and Spider Jones. He has experience playing in virtually any musical setting including jazz, latin, R&B, classical, has performed traditional music from Germany, Poland and Mexico, and has performed in a number of musicals including Guys&Dolls, Anyone Can Whistle, Me and My Girl as well as a number of Cabaret shows. He is equally comfortable playing the lead,solo, or section chair.

His currently musical projects include The Homeless Band (a 7 piece R&B band playing original's and cover songs), La Mezcla (a 10 piece salsa band), The uPBeats (a band playing traditional German/Polish/Mexican music), Macana (a 6 piece Latin Rock Band), and has started his own musical project, a quartet called Das Quartett.
