A BRIEF HISTORY:

Klaus' playing career began when he moved from Germany to Canada. Before he could speak English, he picked up the trumpet in a local marching band in his second "hometown" of Kingston Ontario. There he quickly became interested in the instrument and studied it during his high school years.

After graduating from Frontenac Secondary School, he started playing in the Kingston scene with Union and non-Union bands including the Bob Ayer Big Swing Band, The Sounds of Jazz, Dave Smith's Limestone Sextet, the C&E Military band. He attended St.Lawrence College for Civil Engineering Technology. After completing his second year, it was obvious that the urge to study music was greater than his willingness to start a career in Civil Engineering.

In 2004 he started attending Humber College's Jazz Program. In combination with Thompson River's University, he started his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance. During his four years at Humber, he began his professional development as a trumpet player and found himself playing in several different bands including Alastair Kay's Brass Choir, Andy Ballintyne's Jazz Ensemble, Nancy Walker's Jazz Ensemble, John McLeod's Jazz Orchestra, Rick Lazar's Latin Workshop, Luis Mario Ochoa's Latin Big Band, and Dave Stillwell's Blue Jacket's. He recently completed his Music Diploma and is currently working towards his Bachelor of Music.

Klaus has had the pleasure performing with artists such as Dan Aykroyd and Spider Jones. He has experience playing in virtually any musical setting including jazz, Latin, R&B, classical, has performed traditional music from Germany, Poland and Mexico, and has performed in a number of musicals including Guys&Dolls, Anyone Can Whistle, Me and My Girl as well as a number of Cabaret shows.

His currently musical projects include being part of the Castell Entertainment Group, as well as subbing in several other bands. He is also an active private trumpet teacher and clinician in the GTA, currently accepting students of all levels.
